Centennial Growth Spaces

  • The Centennial Phytotron has 10 BSL2 level greenhouses that are located on the fifth floor of the Plant Science Building. Temperatures in the air-conditioned greenhouses can be maintained at any point between 18 and 40ºC. Irrigation is automated and customizable to each project. Each greenhouse is equipped with programmable shade and blackout curtains.

  • PERCIVAL CHAMBERS

    All chambers are equipped with CO2 supplementation and humidity control (40-75% when temperature is between 15-30°C).

    LOW TEMPERATURE

    LT-105 equipped with multicolor LEDs (blue, white, red, and far-red), temperature control from -10 to 44°C, and growth space of 16 sq ft.

    LT-41 equipped with multicolor LEDs: blue, white, red, and far-red; temperature control from -10 to 44°C; and growth space of 12 sq ft.

    STANDARD

    AR-41 equipped with SciWhite LED lighting ; temperature control from 10 to 40°C and growth space of 12 sq ft.

    TISSUE CULTURE


    CU-30L2 equipped with SciWhite LED lighting ; temperature control from 10 to 40°C and growth space of 4 sq ft.

    WALK-IN CHAMBERS

    The four walk-in chambers equipped with SciWhite LED lighting and each has a maximum of 240 sq ft of growth space. Walk-in chambers control temperature between 4 to 40°C and have CO2 scrubbing capability.

  • There is one compartment specifically for seed storage that is maintained at 4°C, 45 %RH and has 800 cubic feet of storage space.

    • Wet lab and drying oven area.

    The Biocontainment laboratory is a controlled-environment facility for working with and containing plant diseases.  With BSL3 permitting we can accommodate plant-specific select agents and pathogens that are not currently present in the United States. The 1000 sq ft lab is accompanied by an attached 1150 sq ft greenhouse.
